Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026

Welcome to XpressDevTools (the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

1. What this Service is

XpressDevTools is a collection of browser-based developer utilities designed to assist with common development and troubleshooting tasks, including but not limited to:

  • JSON formatting and validation;
  • Base64 encoding and decoding;
  • JWT decoding and inspection;
  • Regex testing;
  • Text transformations;
  • Timestamp, hash, and encoding tools; and
  • Other developer-oriented utilities.

The Service is provided free of charge for convenience and general use.

Tool processing is designed to occur locally within your browser. We do not intentionally upload, retain, or permanently store content processed through the Service. However, limited technical requests required to operate the website (including security, infrastructure, spam prevention, analytics, and standard hosting operations) may still occur.

While we take reasonable measures to operate the Service securely, no internet-based system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

2. Acceptable use

You may use the Service only for lawful purposes and in compliance with these Terms.

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service in violation of any applicable law or regulation;
  • Process, decode, analyze, transform, or manipulate content that you do not have the legal right or authorization to use;
  • Process content that infringes intellectual property rights, confidentiality obligations, privacy rights, or other third-party rights;
  • Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, overload, scrape, automate, abuse, or impair the operation or availability of the Service;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems, APIs, non-public functionality, or infrastructure associated with the Service;
  • Use the Service for malicious, unlawful, deceptive, or harmful purposes, including credential abuse, unauthorized token analysis, exploitation, or prohibited security testing;
  • Copy, clone, mirror, or substantially reproduce the Service, branding, layout, or functionality for the purpose of building a competing product or service.

You are solely responsible for the content you process using the Service.

We do not review, monitor, validate, or moderate user-provided content and make no representations regarding legality, ownership, accuracy, or suitability.

You should independently verify outputs before relying upon them for:

  • Production deployments;
  • Security-sensitive environments;
  • Authentication systems;
  • Compliance workflows;
  • Financial systems;
  • Legal matters; or
  • Mission-critical use cases.

3. No warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SERVICE OPERATOR DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION:

  • MERCHANTABILITY;
  • FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE;
  • ACCURACY;
  • RELIABILITY;
  • AVAILABILITY;
  • SECURITY;
  • NON-INFRINGEMENT; and
  • THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF DEFECTS.

We do not guarantee that outputs generated by the Service — including parses, encodings, decodings, hashes, conversions, validations, regex evaluations, timestamp calculations, transformations, or derived values — will be complete, accurate, secure, or suitable for your intended use.

Tools such as JWT inspection, Base64 decoding, hashing, regex evaluation, or JSON validation may interpret malformed, incomplete, or non-standard inputs differently than expected.

You are solely responsible for independently validating all outputs before relying upon them for production, legal, compliance, authentication, security, financial, or mission-critical purposes.

The Service is not intended to replace professional security, legal, compliance, or operational review.

4. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE SERVICE OPERATOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION:

  • Lost profits;
  • Lost revenue;
  • Lost business opportunities;
  • Lost goodwill;
  • Lost data;
  • Authentication failures;
  • Security incidents;
  • Configuration errors;
  • Business interruption; or
  • Any commercial or economic losses.

arising out of or relating to:

  • Your use of the Service;
  • Your inability to use the Service;
  • Reliance on outputs or generated results;
  • Encoding, decoding, parsing, validation, or transformation outcomes;
  • Errors, omissions, or interruptions; or
  • Temporary technical failures.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF:

(A) CAD $100; OR
(B) THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID TO USE THE SERVICE DURING THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

Because the Service is generally provided free of charge, this limitation may effectively be limited to CAD $100.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability. In those jurisdictions, liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

5. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Service operator from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, expenses, and reasonable legal fees arising out of or relating to:

  • Your use or misuse of the Service;
  • The content you process;
  • Your violation of these Terms;
  • Your violation of applicable law; or
  • Your infringement of any third-party rights.

6. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how limited technical information may be processed to operate, secure, and improve the Service.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its branding, visual design, code, layout, interface, structure, and original content, is owned by the Service operator and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

You may use the Service through a normal web browser for lawful personal or commercial purposes, but you may not reproduce, redistribute, republish, reverse-engineer, or commercially exploit substantial portions of the Service without prior written permission.

Content you input, process, or generate through the Service — including text, encoded values, decoded content, files, hashes, outputs, and transformations — remains your property. We claim no ownership rights to it.

8. Third-party services

The Service may rely on third-party providers, including but not limited to:

  • Cloudflare (security, TLS, edge services, Turnstile);
  • Google AdSense (advertising);
  • Google Fonts;
  • Font Awesome;
  • ipstack (country lookup for spam prevention); and
  • Infrastructure, analytics, or performance services.

Your use of third-party services may also be governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

We are not responsible for third-party outages, policies, systems, or practices.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time.

The current version will always be available at this URL and will include the updated effective date.

Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Suspension or termination

We reserve the right, at any time and for any reason, to suspend, restrict, or terminate access to the Service, with or without notice.

Sections relating to disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, intellectual property, governing law, and dispute resolution survive termination.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable federal laws of Canada.

You agree that any dispute, claim, or legal proceeding relating to these Terms or the Service shall be brought exclusively in the courts located in Ontario, Canada, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

12. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is determined to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
